Happy Puppet Hour is the taping of three shows on a puppet TV lot: an alien talk show, Live from Planet G, a long form improv piece, The Grand Puppet Derby, and a Sesame Street esq show,Tommy’s Town.

Having three separate segments made for opportunities for full aesthetic shifts across the show. The audience walks in to hear the world of this fake tv lot, complete with distant sounds of JLG’s and page announcements. From there we enter the talkshow world of Live from Planet G, a talkshow which was developed into a full length piece in Happy Puppet Hour 2. The talkshow aesthetic is complete with mic’d performers and segment themes. The Grand Puppet Derby is fully improvised, so an adaptable set of effects were chosen to help emphasize the world being created. Tommy’s Town’s children’s show segments each have their own themes and voiceover announcements, mimicking the Sesame Street children’s show style.
